Terms of Use

Effective 2 September 2026 Version 1.0 Tala Labs LLC

The short version. Subscription Scout keeps track of the subscriptions you already pay for. It does not connect to your bank, it does not move money, and it never cancels anything for you. The numbers it shows come from what you enter, so it is a record, not advice. Most of it is free; a paid plan lifts the limit. Use your own account and your own mail, and we will keep it running as best we can.

Who these terms are between

These terms are an agreement between you and Tala Labs LLC, a limited liability company registered in New Jersey, United States, at 971 US Highway 202N, Ste N, Branchburg, NJ 08876. "We" and "us" mean Tala Labs LLC. "The service" means the Subscription Scout iOS app, the web app at app.subscriptionscout.com, and this website.

By creating an account or using the service you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

You must be at least 16 to use the service, or older if the law where you live sets a higher age.

What Subscription Scout is

Subscription Scout is a place to record the subscriptions you pay for, see what they cost together, and be told before one renews.

It tracks. It does not act. Specifically:

  • It never connects to a bank, a card or any payment account, and it cannot see your transactions.
  • It never cancels a subscription for you, and it cannot contact a service on your behalf. Cancelling is something you go and do.
  • It never buys anything for you.
  • It shows what you entered. If a price changed and you did not change it here, the app will show the old one.

Reminders are a convenience, not a guarantee. Notifications depend on your device, your network and the platform delivering them, and we cannot promise that any single reminder arrives. Do not rely on the app alone for something that must not be missed.

It is not financial advice

Nothing in the service is financial, investment, tax or legal advice. The totals, the trend and the reminders are arithmetic on what you typed. Decisions about your money are yours.

Where the app converts between currencies, it says so, and it shows the date of the exchange rate it used. Those figures are approximate by nature and should not be used for accounting.

Your account

You sign in with an email address and a one-time code we send to it. Keep access to that mailbox: anyone who can read it can sign in as you.

One account is for one person. Do not share it, and do not sign up on someone else's behalf without their say-so.

Give us an email address that is really yours. Everything the service does — codes, reminders, forwarding — depends on it.

Free and paid

Subscription Scout has a free tier that tracks a limited number of subscriptions, and a paid tier that lifts that limit and unlocks the rest of the product. The current limit and the current price are shown in the app before you are asked for anything.

The free tier is genuinely free. There is no advertising in it, and we do not sell data to pay for it.

How a purchase works

Purchases made in the iOS app are made through Apple's App Store. Apple takes the payment, Apple holds the payment details, and Apple's own terms and refund rules govern the transaction. We never see your card number.

A subscription bought through the App Store renews automatically until you cancel it. You cancel and manage it in your Apple account settings, not here — we cannot cancel it for you, and turning off or deleting your Subscription Scout account does not by itself cancel an App Store subscription. Refunds for an App Store purchase are requested from Apple.

We may later offer the paid plan for purchase on the web, taken through Stripe. If we do, the price, the currency, the countries it is sold in and the cancellation route will be stated at checkout before you pay, and those terms will apply to that purchase.

Prices can change. If we change the price of a plan you already hold, we will tell you before it applies to you, and you will be able to cancel instead.

The forwarding address

If you switch email forwarding on, we give you a personal address at subscriptionscout.com that turns forwarded receipts into subscription proposals. It is off until you turn it on, and you can turn it off again at any time.

Three rules, and they are the whole of it:

  • Forward your own mail only. Mail addressed to you, about services you pay for. Do not forward someone else's correspondence.
  • Only the address you sign in with may write to it. Mail from anywhere else is dropped without being read. Do not point a mailing list, a shared mailbox or an automatic rule from another account at it.
  • It is not a mailbox. Do not use it to receive mail generally, to sign up for anything, or as a public contact address. It reads receipts and nothing else.

You may rename your address, once a day. When you do, the old one stops working immediately and mail sent to it is dropped. We may refuse a name that is reserved or already taken.

We may suspend an address that is used against these rules, or that is sending us a volume of mail that is not one person's receipts.

How you may use the service

Use it as an ordinary person tracking their own subscriptions. Do not:

  • break into, probe, overload or interfere with the service or the systems behind it;
  • access another person's account or data;
  • scrape the service, or drive it automatically at a scale a person could not;
  • resell the service, or pass off its output as your own product;
  • upload or forward anything illegal, or anything you have no right to send us;
  • use it in a way that breaks the law where you are.

The name Subscription Scout, the logo and the design of the app are ours. Names and logos of the services you track belong to their owners, and their appearance in the app does not mean they are involved with us or endorse us.

Your data stays yours

The subscriptions you enter are yours. We claim no ownership of them. We store and process them to run the service for you, and for nothing else — the Privacy Policy is the detail.

You are responsible for what you put in. If you forward an email, you are confirming it is yours to forward.

Availability and change

We run the service as carefully as we can, but we do not promise it will be available without interruption. It can be down for maintenance, or because something upstream of us is down.

The service will change. We add features, we remove features that are not working, and we sometimes change how something behaves. If we remove something you were relying on, or change it materially against you, we will say so in the app or by email.

We may set fair limits — on how much you can store, or how much you can forward — to keep the service working for everyone.

Ending it

You can leave whenever you want. Settings → Account → Delete account. Your account and your list are gone from your side immediately, and erased in full within 30 days.

Deleting your account here does not cancel a subscription you bought through Apple. Cancel that in your Apple account settings.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that is being used to harm the service or another person, or that we are required by law to close. Except where the breach is serious or unlawful, we will tell you first and give you a chance to put it right.

If we close the whole service down, we will give reasonable notice and a way to get your data out first.

What we are responsible for

Plainly, so it is worth reading:

  • We are responsible for running the service honestly and carefully, and for doing what this document and the Privacy Policy say we do.
  • We are not responsible for a payment you did not want to make. The app is a record and a reminder. A missed reminder, a price we show that is out of date, or a renewal you did not notice is not a charge we caused, and we cannot refund it — the service you subscribed to took the money, not us.
  • We are not responsible for your data being wrong when you were the one who entered it, or when we read it out of an email you forwarded and you confirmed it.
  • We are not responsible for other companies. That includes the services you track, Apple, and anything we link to.

The service is provided as it is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we give no warranties beyond what this document says, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost savings, or lost profits.

Where we are liable, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim — and if you never paid us anything, to USD 50.

None of this limits anything that cannot be limited by law, including liability for our own fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence. If you are a consumer, you keep every right your local consumer law gives you, and nothing here takes it away.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that is not settled informally will be brought in the state or federal courts of Essex County, New Jersey, and both of us consent to that venue.

If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of your own country, or of the right to bring a claim where you live.

Before going to court, write to us. Most things are a misunderstanding and are cheaper to fix in an email.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. When we do, we change the effective date at the top and raise the version number.

If a change matters to you, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you do not accept the new terms, stop using the service and delete your account — that is your remedy, and it is a real one.

If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
